The value of design in infrastructure delivery
Research by Expedition Engineering and Marko&Placemakers for the Design Task Force informing the recommendations in the Assessment.
This research report undertaken by Expedition Engineering and Marko&Placemakers examines the value of design through a portfolio of examples of infrastructure projects from the UK and beyond. It has been developed to support the National Infrastructure Commission’s Design Task Force work to “put design at the heart of the country’s future infrastructure planning” and is published alongside the National Infrastructure Commission’s National Infrastructure Assessment.
The Commission wants to see design at the heart of national infrastructure planning – saving money, reducing risk, adding value and creating a legacy that looks good and works well. The aim of this portfolio is to understand how some major infrastructure projects have addressed some of the perceived barriers to quality infrastructure design identified through the Design Task Force’s early analysis.
