Freight's economic role, the impact of urban congestion and carbon reduction targets, and the potential of emerging technologies

Tagged: Transport

The Commission is undertaking a study of the UK’s freight sector – covering road, rail, water and other modes – looking at its economic role, the impact of urban congestion and carbon reduction targets, and the potential of emerging technologies to transform the sector.

It will then make recommendations to government on what actions it should consider to support an efficient and low-carbon freight system over the next 30 years. The Commission launched a six-week consultation for all interested parties to submit their views. This closed on 5 March 2018.
