Houses of Parliament

In the run-up to the UK General Election, the Commission – like other public sector bodies – is required to act in accordance with the 2024 General Election guidance. The Commission offers independent advice to the government of the day, and it is not appropriate for it to engage in discussion of government policy during the campaign period.

These rules apply to our media engagement, speaking events, publications, website and social media from Saturday 25 May until a new government is formed.

During this period, we are not in a position to publish new reports, comment or analysis, and we are unable to accept most requests to speak at public engagements (where they relate to discussions of government policy). However, we are very much continuing all other activity in line with our work programme and objectives.
