Net zero: Commission recommendations and the net zero target

An analysis of Commission recommendations in light of the net zero greenhouse gas emissions target.

In June 2019 the government legislated for a net zero greenhouse gas emissions target for the whole economy by 2050.

The Commission has analysed its existing recommendations made in its first National Infrastructure Assessment to check they are consistent with net zero. It found that they are aligned with the new target, although some have now become more urgent.
