Are you passionate about improving the UK’s transport systems? Do you have a good mix of experience, skills and insights about how effective transport infrastructure can help boost regional economies, support the decarbonisation of the economy, remain resilient to the impacts of climate change, or make the most of technological developments such as AI? If so, this new role at the Commission could be for you.
Applications are invited from transport and policy professionals interested in joining our policy team and leading our work on projects arising from the recommendations made in our second National Infrastructure Assessment, as well as helping the Commission respond to any changing priorities following the general election.
The role – based in our Leeds office – would suit a candidate with the skills and insights to co-ordinate our evidence-based policy making on transport and associated cross-cutting issues. A background and experience in transport will be helpful, along with skills in research and policy development, to help us evaluate and track progress by government and industry in implementing the Commission’s existing recommendations, including on transport funding, modal shift, road and rail resilience, and devolved powers and funding on transport to local authorities. If that’s you, we want to hear more about your experience in developing strategic policy programmes and analysing data from a range of sources to policy development, along with evidence of how you have delivered positive policy outcomes through using appropriate project management techniques.
As a senior policy adviser you will be required to develop effective relationships within government, industry and academia to support our policy development, and be able to communicate our findings at a senior level to help build a consensus around Commission recommendations on transport. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our Commissioners, other policy colleagues and members of our analysis and modelling team in getting to grips with challenging and cutting edge transport infrastructure challenges which will shape the country’s long term economic future.
Closing date for applications is Sunday 14 July 2024. More information about the role and the application process can be found on Civil Service Jobs and also in this candidate job pack.
