New research on public views about surface water flooding

This social research by BMG was commissioned as part of the new study on reducing the risk of surface water flooding. Using a combination of qualitative and quantitative survey work, the research sought the views of a representative range of member of the public on four broad themes:

  • their awareness of the issue of surface water flooding
  • their levels of concern
  • their willingness to pay to reduce the risk
  • what other proactive measures that they and other actors should take.

The final report of the Commission's study says action is needed to prevent more properties across England becoming at high risk of this type of flooding.
